                    Active for Life

This website is managed by Brighton & Hove City Council Active for Life Programme and Brighton & Hove Primary Care Trust.

The Active for Life project is jointly funded by Sport England, Brighton & Hove City Teaching Primary Care Trust and Brighton & Hove City Council. The aim of the project is to get more people, more active, more often in Brighton & Hove.

People of all ages, backgounds and abilities will gain from being more active so the project is City-wide but there is particular focus on 8 areas: Hollingdean, Tarner, Queens Park & Cravenvale, Bristol Estate, Hangleton & Knoll,Bevendean, Portslade and Portland Road & Clarendon. Each of these areas has a dedicated physical activity worker whose job is to organise activities, support existing groups and work directly with local residents to increase physcial  activity levels.

Active For Life Directory

Details of 350 community sports clubs and groups in and around the City.  For people in Brighton & Hove who want to get more active for fun, fitness and health and for activity organisers and health workers who want support, advice, training or resources to help others get more active.     Healthwalks

A regular programme of easy walks, especially designed for first-time walkers, in the City and surrounding countryside, led by trained Walk Leaders.  Contact Healthwalks Coordinator at Brighton & Hove City Council Sport Development on 01273 292564

City Cycling

Dedicated to promoting and improving the environment for cycling in the City.  Members of this group campaign for more and better cycle routes, provide training for all ages and help employers and employees to get more people cycling to work
