 What′s The Big Idea?

At your age you are probably physically active for about half an hour a day on most days of the week. This may sound okay, but in fact to keep healthy you really should be aiming for one hour of ′moderate intensity′ physical activity a day

You don’t have to be a sporty person to be an active person

An hour may seem long but it doesn′t have to be all at once. It can be made up of smaller bursts of activity. For example, your day could include:

  • 10 minutes walking to school
  • 15 minutes running games at breaktime
  • 15 minutes of netball or football at lunchtime
  • 10 minutes walking home from school
  • 10 minutes football with friends after school

So why do it?

Being active helps you:

  • look after your heart and body
  • feel more lively
  • unwind from school work
  • meet up with friends and make new ones
  • feel good about yourself
