The Active for Life Project has been running since 2005, supporting people living within targeted communities in Brighton & Hove to live active lifestyles. The project caters for all ages, and provides advice and guidance to people looking to take part in local sport and physical activity.
The project was initially funded with support from Sport England; however since April 2009 it has been funded by Brighton & Hove City Council, NHS Brighton & Hove and the Chances4Change Big lottery fund. The project is hosted by Brighton & Hove City Council Sport Development Team.

The Active for Life project is for people of all ages - people have engaged in our activities aged level.from 3 – 98 years old. The project helps you find enjoyable ways to get active, whatever your age or ability.
Groups who are looking to set up new sport and physical activity sessions can receive expert advice, guidance, and support to access funding to help establish new activities that meet local needs.

The Active for Life project works in partnership with clubs, community groups, statutory and non statutory organisations to maximise the support available to enable people become more active in Brighton and Hove.

By encouraging increased participation in community based sport and activity the Active for Life project delivers the following outcomes:
Volunteering is hugely rewarding to participants and to the individual who is giving up their valuable time. The Active for Life project is able to give residents of the Active for Life areas full training and support to become a volunteer within the project. You can become a coach, leader or an activator who helps us to project activities in your local community.
