Chances4Change

In 2008, Brighton & Hove City Council's Sport Development Team secured three years funding through Chances4Change to deliver the project across two neighbourhoods (Queens Park & Craven Vale and the Bristol Estate).

The Active for Life project forms part of a portfolio of projects in the South East funded by the Big Lottery Fund Wellbeing Programme. The aim of the Chances4Change is to redress the hidden health inequalities and improve the health & wellbeing for people in the South East, targeting 'at risk' groups across the region.

The Active for Life Project supports the 'be more active' strand of the Big Lottery Fund Well being Programme, and enabling people to have enhanced well being by:

  • talking to local residents about sport and physical activity
  • signposting residents to local clubs and activities
  • offering support to local clubs and groups  to access training, funding, and resources
  • working with communities to set up new groups or classes that meet their needs and interests
  • providing opportunities for coaches and volunteers to support community sport and physical activity
