Volunteers

There are many reasons why people volunteer:
-
make a difference to people’s lives in their community
-
learn new skills that could lead to a job
-
meet new people
-
get satisfaction from doing something useful
-
build confidence
-
have fun
Sports clubs and groups rely on volunteers in a huge range of roles, helping with finance, publicity and sponsorship, organising fixtures, helping with refreshments and supporting events.
If you are looking to become a volunteer, you may wish to approach the following organisations:
-
Brighton & Hove City Council’s Sport Development Team offers information and advice to encourage and support volunteers. There is a wide range of opportunities to help out as coaches, officials, event staff and administrators.
-
Sussex Sports Partnership runs a Volunteer Reward Scheme, for volunteers supporting local sports clubs and groups. The scheme is a great way to get benefits from your volunteering. Count up your hours and exchange them for rewards including free training workshops, clothing, and money off coaching or officiating courses.
-
The Volunteer Centre Brighton & Hove identifies opportunities in not-for-profit organisations, as well as volunteering opportunities from organisations seeking help. If you’re a club who is looking for volunteers you can register your opportunities, or if you’re a volunteer you can find out what is available in Brighton & Hove.
